Sometimes there’s a glimpse of truth behind the cliché phrases. And according to my own experience, people are 100% correct when they say ‘Once you get a tattoo and/or piercing, you’re constantly planning your next appointment ‘. If there’s an upside to me not earning heaps of money, it’s that I can stop myself from getting tattoos on a whim. I wonder if I’d even have an empty inch of skin by now. Though, this doesn’t stop me from planning what kind of tattoos I might get in the future.

It’s been a while since I wrote a Top 5 list. I have a hard time coming up with ideas, but once I do, I enjoy writing them. And today, I’m here with a list of designs that made me react with “Ooohh, I might want this etched on my skin permanently”. Let’s take a look.

No refunds on this blog.

The Aquatope on White Sand

I’m a little behind on some of my seasonal watches, and The Aquatope on White Sand is one of them. I decided to wait for the season to end so I can binge the rest in one go. It’s that series in a season that would probably go unnoticed if you aren’t a fan of the slice-of-life genre already, or aren’t recommended by a friend/blogger. Solid storytelling, lovable characters, and an animation style that’s easy on the eyes are strong points of Aquatope.

Sea creatures, to me, are either cute or creepy and there’s no in-between. I might not be a huge fan of them like Kukuru, but a good design that appeals to my taste can capture my heart in an instant no matter what. I’m more on the abstract side of things than on hyperrealism, and I’d 8/10 get a sea/river design tatted on me.

This artist is currently my favorite and I’d travel to South Korea in a heart beat for them if I could. Their works are nothing less than stunning.
I’d totally get behind this!
Kukuru’s designs are cute too!

Kageki Shoujo!

A seasonal favorite. I went into Kageki Shoujo! hearing nothing but positive remarks and the trailer had that pzazz that instantly captured my attention. With its female-heavy cast, well-fleshed-out characters, and interesting focus, the series made me look forward to the next week’s episode with great anticipation. Highly recommended, if it wasn’t already on your radar.

I’m a simple woman, if you didn’t know. I love plants in general, and try to grow some in my flat. Needless to say, I love them as tattoos as well. I’m not even picky. And Kageki Shoujo’s ending theme gave me some ideas. I’d either get inspiration from the pretty, textured flowers or this stage design would make a great sternum tattoo. Either way, it’s 10/10 a great idea to have a tattoo related to a show you like that doesn’t scream “weeb”. It’d probably hurt like a b!tch, though.

Love this placement.

The Case Study of Vanitas

Ahh, another seasonal favorite at first sight. The Case Study of Vanitas was fun, intriguing, from fashion to backgrounds to accessories to character designs, everything about it looked like they were meticulously designed and well-thought of. The voice acting was superb and did a very good job of highlighting the good chemistry in its colorful cast. Deserves every praise it can get.

A well-designed series whose aesthetics speak to me means lots of tattoo ideas. Lots of details to get inspiration from, or *coughs* designs to steal as they are. Like the mark that appeared on Vanitas when Jeanne bit him. Heck, I’d even get a tattoo of Murr, it’s one handsome fellow. However, I’m most warmed up to the design of Naenia. I’d 13/10 get its smile inked on my back just to creep people out.

Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan

I was off to a rocky start with Uramichi Oniisan. I thought it’d be my favorite since I enjoy dark/self-deprecating humor. After watching the first episode, I didn’t look forward to the rest that much and thought it’d be better off as short form. At some point, I picked it back up just because and it grew on me so fast I couldn’t even remember why I took a break in the first place. And I think it’s purposefully airing on Monday, which is a genius move.

You might be wondering what could come out from that show that I’d want to carry on me till the end of time. In the second episode, Uramichi wakes up from a dream where a large number of bird-like creatures in blue shirts riding loaves of bread in space. He has a pretty rad subconscious. Later on, the design is turned into a hand puppet for the show’s advice segment. To be honest, that bird has a charming ugliness to it, and I’d 15/10 get it inked on my calf. I know Uramichi would be equally proud of me and suspicious of my mental well-being. We’d go for a drink afterward.

Look at my husband, holding onto his remaining brain cell, doing his best!

The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace

Oh look, it’s that show I have conflicting feelings for, even when it’s about to end! It’s no other than The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace, the series I decided to do gallery posts for. I’m still in the process of making sense of what I’m watching and feeling towards it, but in the meantime, I make sure to enjoy the exquisite visuals and animation.

To repeat what I’ve said in my very first post on the series; even if you don’t plan on watching the whole season, I suggest you at least check out the fabulously energetic and aesthetically pleasing opening theme. There was a particular part where I got both the tattoo and the post idea from. The glitches were hard to catch, so instead of a screenshot, I gif’ed it for you. I’d rate this idea at least a 17/10, I feel like I’d get it impulsively the moment I find an artist that’ll do it justice and manage to cut back on my manga spending for a while. Love the design, effect, and palette to bits.

These were all the ideas I got this season! What about you? Do you also suddenly get the urge to get a tattoo of a particular design/character/object you see in anime or manga? Or any of the designs I mentioned in the post that you fancied? I’d be totally up to getting matching tattoos. Let me know what you think in the comments, otherwise, hang in there a little more, since the weekend is near!
